ELK VALLEY HOPITAL FOUNDATION

I make a rule of keeping FAST Matters to strictly FAST business at the risk of opening a Pandora’s box of subjects.  I have made a rare exception this week for the Elk Valley Hospital Foundation as our club is an occasional user of this fine facility and appreciate the outstanding attention we get when our day ends up a little differently than we had planned.  The details:

The Elk Valley Hospital Foundation's 10th Anniversary Gala will be on Saturday March 27, 2010. This year's theme is a casino extravaganza based on the "elegant spy". The evening includes gambling for fun and prizes, fabulous food, dancing and even a martini bar. An ER ultrasound, a glydescope, Bair Blankets (for hypothermia) and a new defibrillator are examples of items we've been able to purchase in the past. We invite you to join us for our Gala Evening. Tickets are $75 per person and $125 per couple and can be purchased from Nancy Clark 250 423 7866.

SUNSHINE CAMP

We are looking to resume the May Sunshine Camp this year now that the renovations at Sunshine Village are complete.  This is a two or three day camp at Sunshine village for athletes final year E2 and up. It focused on ski skills only. No gates.  We stay on the mountain so there is no driving involved. Tradition has it that Rod Timm spends a day with the parents to work on their ski skills as well.  This is a great low key year ender event for the entire family.   Those that have been before will give this event rave reviews.  We are looking at May 15 to 17, 2010.  Here is what you need to do:

1 – If you think you may want to attend please email Thorna Lawrence at thornal@shaw.ca NO LATER THAN MARCH 15, 2010.

Thank you to Thorna for stepping up to organize this event.

YEAR END BANQUET & AGM

A little ways off yet but put it in your social calendar.  On April 3 is our final club race and Year End Banquet.  A must attend for all the kids.  No athlete goes home empty handed.  We are following the awards with a dance this year.

Even more fun is our Annual General Meeting which will be held on April 4 at 9 am.  Location TBD.  If you want your questions answered or want to get more involved this is your chance.

TAX RECEIPTS

We have not forgotten the 2009 tax receipts.  We will try to print them in the coming week or two.  I think we will be low-tech as we were last year and you will have to pick them up at the racer’s hut.  I will let you know.

CLOSING THOUGHT – I have attached a few of photos of club members having fun and representing FAST at the Olympics over the past week.  As a large club we fan out far and wide.  Two of the photos are of Tyler Werry who foreran at the Olympics.  A proud FAST member.  Our club has many accomplishments both on and off the slopes.  If you send me a photo or two I will try to share them.  Our club members go many interesting places and we have much to be proud of.

Best regards,

Chris
