U10 is for kids that like to rip it up all weekend!  Whether you child aspires to become a competitive racer or a great all-mountain skier, this program will teach him or her the strong bacis skills required.

Our primary focus is on Skier Essentials.  The U10 program offers an excellent opportunity for young athletes to improve their skiing skills with an increased focus on technical skiing and racing.  The kids will enjoy a good mix of skiing from All-Mountain, Steep & Deep, Moguls, Gates and Race Course.  It is an excellent environment for young athletes to improve their skills wile getting a taste of racing with a fun group of peers.

 

Schedule

U10 skiers will starts as soon as the season opens, usually the first weekend in December.  The U10 program is from 9:00-3:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.  FAST organizes a number of ski camps during the Christmas and Spring Break.  The camps are optional, but the cost is included in the program fees all all U10 skiers are welcome to join in.  In total, 45 days of instruction are offered.

Races 

All races are optional at this age, but they are encouraged for any child who wants to enjoy a fun environment and friendly competition.  

Friends of FAST - There are 2 club races and 1 club championship held at Fernie for all our FAST athletes.  These fun-focused events are a great introduction to the world of ski racing.

Husky Snow Star Festival in Kimberly - This invitational race is held at Kimberly each year for FAST Track and U10 athletes.  The race is very well organized, a lot of fun and ther are many prizes.  It is very popular with both young athletes and parents.  It is a great introduction to inter-club racing.

Cost

Annual Registration fee is $1450.  The fees include 45 days of instruction, the club races and championships, athlete-parent race and the FAST Year-End Banquet ticket for the athlete.

Equipment

Helmets - All U10 athletes are required to wear full over-the-ear hardshell alpine ski racing helmets.  

Skis - Any type of skis will do as long as they are in good condition and have properly adjusted bindings.  A pair of junior racing/carving skis is idel but not mandatory.

It is the PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that their child has properly fitting and properly functioning equipment.
